The lawn of the Highland County Courthouse was packed with chanting, hugging people Friday afternoon, as the community rallied together with Anna's Army to bring awareness and raise funds toward finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

The third Friday in April is proclaimed Anna's Army Day by the Highland County Commissioners, and the army was out in full force. April 20 was the fourth annual Anna's Army Day.

Anna's Army was founded in 2002 by the family of Anna Reno, a Hillsboro Elementary student who was battling Cystic Fibrosis. The organization and its fundraising initiatives have grown into an annual event geared toward finding a cure for the disease. Anna passed away in March 2009 at age 8.

Anna's mother and event organizer Andi Reno thanked the crowd for their support in continued efforts to bring awareness of the disease.

As balloons were distributed for a balloon launch, Reno said that this was their way of telling Anna hello and that they loved her and encouraged people to whisper a message to the balloons as they were released into the blue sky.

This year, they are teaming up with the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Anna's Army has raised more than $100,000 in the 10 years it has been in operation.
