Students from all the Highland County middle schools were given an opportunity to design a poster with the theme “Soil, Where it All Begins” for the Highland Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual Conservation Poster Contest.

The posters were created on paper grocery bags donated by Hillsboro Kroger. The top three poster winners from each school received a gift donated by the Highland SWCD.

Each of the top school posters were then judged for the overall top five county poster winners. The county poster winners received cash awards sponsored by the Highland County Farm Bureau at the Annual Meeting on Oct. 7.

The 2026 overall county Conservation Poster Contest winners are: first place, Adalyn Oberrecht from Lynchburg-Clay; second place, Ellie Badgley from Greenfield; third place, Kahleigha Pleasure from Hillsboro; fourth place, Kristine Baldwin from Fairfield; and fifth place, Sophie Noe from Bright Local.

Congratulations to all the participants for making this year another outstanding contest.
