Highland County Sheriff’s Report

July 24
A resident of the 6600 block of Pied Piper Pkwy. reported vandalism to a window. Charges are pending.

July 25
A deputy responded to the 3100 block of Neal Road after a report of an assault. This incident remains under investigation.

A deputy while on patrol in New Market Twp. observed a vehicle without taillights traveling southbound on Mad River Road. The deputy attempted a traffic stop when the driver of the vehicle continued south on Mad River Road at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop. The vehicle turned on to Griffith Road and eventually crashed into a wooded area in the 5900 block of Griffith Road. 

The driver fled on foot behind a nearby residence. Several juveniles were reported to be passengers in the vehicle and were transported to Highland District Hospital where they were treated and released. The driver identified as Jaydin M. Griffith, 20 of Portsmouth, eventually returned to the accident scene where he was charged with failure to comply, obstruction of official business, driving under suspension, unlawful restraint, and no taillights.
