Highland County Firefighters Association hosts Safety Day June 9

The Highland County Firefighters Association will be hosting its 17th annual Public Safety Day, this Sunday, June 9.
It will be held at the Hillsboro Kroger store, 575 Harry Sauner Road, from noon to 2:30 p.m.
There will be numerous firetrucks, life squads, and police vehicles on display. Multiple agencies from the area will be in attendance.
Activities will include: Auto extrication, child fingerprinting and equipment displays. Children will also be able to spray water from a fire hose.
There will also be a safety trailer, that will teach youths how to stay low in smoke and escape their home in case of a fire.
Helicopters from Miami Valley Careflight and MedFlight are planning on flying in as long as there are no emergencies that call them away.
Pokeys D J and Karaoke Service will provide music.

There will also be snacks available throughout the day.
All this is free to the public.
"We encourage everyone to come out and support your local public safety agencies," said Jay Post, president of the Highland County Firefighters Association.
"We hope this will be a fun and educational day for everyone. A big thank-you to Brent Wilson and his staff for supporting this event, which has been held at Kroger for last 16 years."
• Some other events upcoming for the HCFFA include: A fish fry on July 5 during the Festival of the Bells. The proceeds will be used toward the EMS Conference that is held every year. It provides much-needed required Continuing Education hours free of charge to EMTs in the area. Also, the 10th annual Kroger Klassic Car Show will be on July 27.
Departments in the HCFFA include: Hillsboro, Paint Creek, Highland County North, Lynchburg, Southern Highland, Brush Creek Township Fire Dept., Marshall Township Fire Dept., Bainbridge Fire Dept, Brush Creek Life Squad, Clinton Highland, Fayetteville, and Peebles Fire Dept.
