Highland County EMA updates water shortage, power outage information
The Emergency Operation Center is open (limited staff), and staff members are looking at the power outages and water shortages.
Highland County Water Company officials state that most towers have at least 12 feet of water in them, and they continue to pump. Officials still ask for conservation of water and boiling drinking water.
Power companies have reached less than 250 customers without power, and crews will work these as soon as possible.

The FEMA water truck arrived, and available distribution sites are as follows:
• Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire, 650 North Washington St, Greenfield;
• Lynchburg Joint Fire/EMS, 8123 state Route 135, Lynchburg;
• Mowrystown Fire/EMS, 59 Maple St., Mowrystown;
• Leesburg Fire/EMS, 200 South Street, Leesburg;
• Rocky Fork Service Center, North Shore Drive (open 11 a.m. -- 7 p.m. on July 3); and
• Highland County EOC, 1487 North High Street, Hillsboro.
Residents in the county that have livestock issues can get water at the North High water plant in Hillsboro at $1.60 per 100 gallon. Call the EOC for more information.
The Health Department also has information on food spoilage and recommendations.
