HCSO confiscates 350 marijuana plants

The Highland County Sheriff's Office conducted aerial marijuana searches over the county on Monday, Sept. 12.
As of early afternoon, deputies had confiscated 121 marijuana plants for eradication.
Highland County Sheriff's Deputy Tom Putnam told the Highland County Press the plants had a potential street value of approximately $1,200 to $1,500 per pound.
"There's the potential for up to $180,000 worth of product here," Putnam said, outside the Highland County Airport Monday.
Putnam said the HCSO typically begins the aerial searches in mid to late August, but with this year's wet spring, area crops are later to reach harvest; "including this one," he said.
According to Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward, by the end of Monday's operation, a total of 350 plants, ranging from 3 to 7 feet in height, had been found.
Ward said the searches will continue until the end of the month or the season's first frost.
No charges have been filed.
