Fundraisers, benefits planned for victims of Hillsboro explosion
The following is a list of some benefits, events and fundraisers for the victims and families affected by the Nov. 28 explosion in Hillsboro.
Several fundraisers have been established for the family of Jimbo’s Auto Repair owner James Chambers and for the families of the three individuals who were killed in the explosion: David Beaver, Cameron Boatman and Tim Furbee.

3C - Chey’s Confection Connection is selling cookies for $25 per dozen, with $7 per dozen donated to the Furbee family.

Advance Auto Parts in Hillsboro is accepting cash, gift card and toy donations for the affected families. There will be donation boxes at every register in the store.

All The Small Things LLC is hosting a gun raffle at Wilkin Heating and Air Conditioning, with 100 percent of proceeds going toward the families. The raffle winner will be announced Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.

Bobabarica’s Subs is collecting donations at their shop to give to the families.

ButterMilks Bakery is selling a tin of 24 one-ounce cookies for $26, with 20% of proceeds being donated to the families affected.

Creekside Therapy Center, LLC is offering a free support group Sunday, Dec. 3 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at their Hillsboro office for those impacted.

Cundiff’s Flowers and Cundiff’s Tree Care are conducting a toy drive through Dec. 16 for Christmas gifts for Beaver’s children, a 9-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl. Donations can be dropped off at Cundiff’s Flowers during normal business hours.

Designs by BStorts is donating 50 percent of the proceeds for any order placed for tumblers, car coasters, keychains or koozies to the Chambers family.

The Grub’n Monkey will host a benefit dinner Dec. 2 from 4-8 p.m., with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting funeral expenses. Ferguson Auto will also be conducting a raffle auction. If you would like to attend, RSVP to (937) 509-3165.

Hillsboro Church of Christ is hosting a worship night Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. An offering will be taken for the families.

Hillsboro Eagles Aerie 1161 is hosting a charity raffle, auction and concert Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. Contact the Eagles if you would like to donate to the raffle and/or auction.

Holtfield Station will be hosting a drive-thru prayer day, Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in conjunction with Sonners Chapel and Bikers For Christ.

Hometown WoodWerks and More is selling Highland County Strong ornaments for $10 each, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the families.

• Hull's Welding & Small Engine Repair LLC will be having a raffle for a brand-new Echo CS-310 chainsaw and is planning on having a benefit auction at some point in the near future for Jimbo's and the families of the employees who were killed in the tragedy.

The Lake View Loft will be hosting a fundraiser Dec. 9 from 6-10 p.m. This will be an adults-only event and will include a band, dinner, drinks and big ticket raffles. Admission will be $20 per person. To donate, contact Denise Mootz, (513) 313-1818.

Lynchburg-Clay High School is hosting a benefit dinner and silent auction Friday, Dec. 15 from 5-8 p.m., with proceeds going toward the Furbee family.

The Hillsboro Papa John’s will be hosting a fundraiser Tuesday, Dec. 5, where 20 percent of the sales will be donated to help all those who were impacted.

Smyth Automotive in Hillsboro has a cash donation box’s for Jimbo's but will also accept any other donations such as toys, tools, etc. anyone would like to drop off for the families.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro collected a second offertory from the congregation on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Twisted Violet Homestead is selling T-shirts for $15 and is accepting donations from businesses to cover costs so profits will go toward the families.

White’s Bakery is donating 20% of sales Saturday, Dec. 2 to the families. They will also be collecting donations specifically for the families.
