Former Hillsboro resident Krista Koehl dies in motorcycle crash

Former Hillsboro resident Krista Koehl was killed Friday, Sept. 6 in a motorcycle accident in Italy.
The Oregonian reports at www.oregonlive.com that Koehl was riding on the back of a motorcycle with her husband when it crashed. She hit a tree and died at the scene. Her husband survived, the newspaper said.
Koehl was appointed Port of Portland general counsel in 2012. The Hillsboro High School graduate had earned a B.S. in Environmental Policy from Ohio University and received her law degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College.

Koehl had been with the Port of Portland since 2004, first serving as assistant general counsel and most recently as general manager of the Portland Harbor Environmental Program.
She was a founding board member and chair of the education committee of Women in Environment which fosters networking, mentoring and education for women professionals in the environmental field. She also serves on the governing committee of Regional Arts and Culture Council’s Right Brain Initiative.
