Former Edison Community College official sentenced

Judge Christopher Gee of the Miami County Common Pleas Court has sentenced former Edison Community College Public Relations Officer Jack Kramer to two years of community control sanctions.

In addition, Gee ordered Kramer to pay $9,300 in restitution and court costs.

On Sept. 25, 2012, Kramer pleaded guilty to one felony count of having an unlawful interest in a public contract, admitting that he used his public position at Edison Community College to authorize a series of advertising contracts with ScoresBroadcast, LLC, totaling over $16,000.

ScoresBroadcast was a private broadcasting company where Kramer worked and later became a co-owner.

The Ethics Laws prohibit public officials and employees from using their public position to authorize or secure the authorization of public contracts with their private business or business associates.

The maximum penalty for violating R.C. 2921.42(A)(1) is 18 months in prison and/or $5,000 in fines.
