Flood warning announced for Highland, surrounding counties

The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a flood warning at 10:49 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 for Highland, Brown, Ross, Pike, Scioto, and Adams counties, effective until 4:45 p.m.
Communities particularly at risk are Bainbridge, Belfast, Chillicothe, Cynthiana, Fayetteville, Georgetown, Greenfield, Hillsboro, Portsmouth, St. Martin, Waverly, and Wheelersburg.
According to the National Weather Service website, rain gauge reports indicated that between 2-3 inches of rain have fallen in the affected counties since Monday.
Heavy rain will continue to fall throughout Tuesday afternoon, with an additional inch or more of rain possible, the National Weather Service reported.
Drivers are asked to avoid driving into areas where water covers the road, and families are urged to ensure children do not play near storm drains or flooded creeks and streams.[[In-content Ad]]
