LEESBURG – Highland County North Fire and EMS responded to a structure fire at 9520 Lovers Lane near Leesburg on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Upon arrival, firefighters found an attached shed containing a wood-fired boiler for the home engulfed in flames.

They were able to quickly bring the fire under control before the fire extended into the main living portion of the home. There was a small bit of extension into the rear wall and attic of the home.

The occupants were not home at the time of the fire.

Chief Kenny Stevens of Highland North stated that a passerby saw the fire and called to report it. The passerby reportedly checked the home to attempt to notify the residents but found that no one was home.

Highland North Fire and Ambulance District was assisted at the fire by the Paint Township Fire and EMS district.

Chief Stevens stated that it is believed the fire was likely started by the wood stove; however, they were still investigating.
