Farm Service Agency seeks committee candidates

By
-

The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is looking for candidates for the FSA County Committee election to be held this November, according to Jim Patton, director of the Highland County FSA Office.

FSA elections will be conducted in Local Administrative Area (LAA) Number 1 which includes the townships of Paint, Marshall, Concord, Brushcreek, Washington, and Jackson.

Highland County is divided into three areas for determining FSA committee representation.

The FSA County Committee is made up of three members, one from each area, serving three-year alternating terms.

Farm operators or owners who live in the above townships are encouraged to file a nominating petition by the August 1, 2012 deadline.

The FSA Committee is a vital link in the effective administration of Federal Farm Programs in Highland County. Regular meetings are held to make policy decisions on program implementation, and to act on cases involving individual farmer participation.

For further information, contact the Farm Service Agency at 514 Harry Sauner Road, Hillsboro, or phone 393-1921.
