A Greenfield man has been arrested following the execution of a search warrant into suspected drug activity, after law enforcement seized $22,0000 in cash, pills and a handgun at his residence.
On Monday, Aug. 2 the Highland County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 825 South Fifth Street in Greenfield. The search was an effort to continue to combat illegal narcotics trafficking. Upon execution of the search, detective located more than $22,000 in cash, prescription pills, and a handgun were seized as evidence. Several pieces of electronics, collectables, and hand tools were also seized as possible stolen property and in connection with the narcotics activity.
Jason M. Faulconer, 32, of 825 South Fifth Street, was taken into custody as a result of the search warrant.
"We had been conducting investigations into numerous complaints at that specific address, and working covert drug operations into the trafficking of (prescription) drugs," said Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward. "Looking into the complaints from the community, and the information obtained through the covert drug investigations system led us to get probable cause to obtain a warrant."
Assisting in the execution of the warrant were members of the US 23 Pipeline Major Crimes Taskforce, the Greenfield Police Department, and Highland County Children Services.
Faulconer was taken into custody and is currently being held on a holder from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, after it was found that Faulconer was on supervision due to a prior felony weapons charge in Highland County in 2006. Faulconer will appear in Highland County Common Pleas Court in the near future for a parole violation hearing.
Ward said the community's vigilance and awareness was an asset in this investigation.
"This is another instance," Ward said, "of the community looking out. We need the community to help us combat these situations. Not every complaint leads to a search warrant, but without their involvement and cooperation, this situation would never have been made possible. The community needs to let us know what goes on, if they see suspicious activity, see suspicious cars, suspicious people, suspicious smells. We have been preaching that for years, and this is another great example of what community involvement can do."
The case will be forwarded to the Highland County Prosecutor's Office for presentation to an upcoming session of a Highland County grand jury.
