Emergency Medical Services Week May 19-25

Highland County Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer proclaimed May 19-25 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Highland County.

Jeff Martin of Hillsboro Fire and Rescue and Erika Hurless-Miller of Highland County North Joint Fire and Ambulance District. Erika serves as an EMS coordinator for the county.

Local EMTs provide "a vital public service, providing life-saving care 24 hours a day, seven days a week," the proclamation read.

The theme for this year's Emergency Medical Services Week is "One Mission, One Team: We'll Be There."

Commissioners thanked all area EMS personnel for the vital services they provide to the community.
