The Hillsboro Uptown Business Association has announced that the grand marshal for the 2013 Holiday Parade will be Mrs. Elsie Young.

Mrs. Young has been selected in honor of her countless hours of dedication and service to the community over the course of the last 97 years.

She is active in her church, and many service and social organizations in Southwest Ohio. She has also been a leader in the civil rights movement and has been honored by two presidents of the United States of America.

While she manages to keep busy in the community, Elsie has always made time for God and her family, which she believes to be core values along with being a champion of education.

The Holiday Parade will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. The parade begins at the Highland County Fairgrounds and makes its way up Main Street to the center of Hillsboro, North on High Street and back to the fairgrounds via Catherine Street.

Retiring Hillsboro City Police Chief Nick Thompson, will also be honored as he leads the parade for the last time.
