DeWine announces 7 projects set to create 1,221 jobs

COLUMBUS — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced the approval of seven projects that will create 1,221 new jobs and retain 1,089 jobs statewide. 

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $84.7 million in new payroll and generate more than $1.1 billion in investments across Ohio. 

CENTRAL 

Sam Dong Ohio, Inc. expects to create 30 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $1.8 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Delaware (Delaware County). Sam Dong is one of the leading manufacturers of Magnet Wire and specializes in engineered products for the electrical coil winding industry. The proposed project involves the installation of new casting equipment at its existing facility to support the expanding US electric grid and other diverse industrial sectors. TCA approved a 1.155 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

NORTHEAST 

Gerber Poultry, LLC expects to create 76 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $4 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in Sugar Creek Township (Wayne County). Gerber Poultry raises, produces, and processes all-natural, antibiotic-free chicken for grocers and food service outlets across the U.S. The proposed project is set to modernize and expand their existing processing plant. TCA approved a 1.282 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

Monteferro USA, Inc. expects to create 40 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $1.9 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2028, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Euclid (Cuyahoga County). Monteferro is a subsidiary of Canadian Rail Guide Corp, the only manufacturer of elevator guide rails in North America. The proposed project in Monteferro involves the company locating in an existing building and expanding its North American footprint to service customers in the US while mitigating tariff impacts. TCA approved a 1.118 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company expects to create 75 full-time equivalent positions, generating $5 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Solon (Cuyahoga County). PacSci EMC develops and manufactures advanced pyrotechnic devices and subsystems for high-stakes defense, aerospace, and commercial applications. The proposed project involves the company setting up a new location to manufacture electronic components and expand its offering of energetic solutions to its growing customer demand. TCA approved a 1.420 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

NORTHWEST 

UDD Tech Corporation expects to create 300 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $18.4 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, as a result of the company’s project in the village of Holland (Lucas County). UDD Tech is an emerging Ukrainian drone manufacturer recognized for producing first-person view drones for an increasing number of allied countries globally. The proposed project is being driven by the company’s selection by the U.S. Department of War to partake in the Drone Dominance Program to enhance production of small drones in the United States. TCA approved a 1.642 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. 

SOUTHWEST 

Lonza USA Inc. is currently considering a potential future investment opportunity to construct a new biotech manufacturing facility in Williamsburg Township (Clermont County). If the investment meets due diligence requirements and is approved by the Lonza Board of Directors, it will create 650 full-time-equivalent positions and generate $50 million in new annual payroll from an investment of some $1 billion. Lonza is the world’s largest contract development and manufacturing operation dedicated to serving the pharma and biotech industry. TCA approved a 1.860 percent, 20-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project. The project remains subject to successful due diligence and internal approvals. 

WEST 

Techmetals, Inc. expects to create 50 full-time-equivalent positions, generating nearly $3.5 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2031, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Dayton (Montgomery County). Techmetals, Inc. is a metal finishing, plating, and industrial coatings manufacturer with solutions and services that can increase the life and performance of critical equipment and processes. Techmetals is a supplier to Boeing, Airbus, and Delta Air Lines. The proposed project involves the company building a Next Generation Coatings Center to develop new technology for coating missile components in support of current and future defense manufacturing contracts. TCA approved a 1.299 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
