DeWine announces $5 million investment in workforce partnerships across Ohio
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced more than $5 million in funding to support workforce partnerships connecting Ohioans with in-demand careers across the state.
A total of 22 workforce partnerships across Ohio will receive $5,065,368.46 through the Industry Sector Partnership (ISP) Grant Program. The collaborations focus on high-demand industries including manufacturing, construction and skilled trades, insurance, information technology, transportation, and healthcare.
“A strong economy starts with a strong workforce,” said Governor DeWine. “These partnerships are helping Ohioans connect with new career opportunities while ensuring employers have the talent they need to grow and succeed.”
"Great things happen when people come together, and Industry Sector Partnerships bring employers, educators, workforce leaders, and more to the same table to help Ohioans prepare for meaningful careers," said Lt. Governor Tressel. "We want it to be easier for Ohioans to discover opportunities, build valuable skills, and find a place where they can make a difference, and programs like this do that."
Industry Sector Partnerships are designed to bring together employers, education and training providers, workforce organizations, and community leaders to address regional workforce needs. The grants support both new and existing partnerships working to strengthen local talent pipelines across Ohio.
“When businesses, educators, and community organizations work together, communities grow stronger,” said Director Mihalik. “Industry Sector Partnerships are helping Ohioans gain the skills employers are looking for while strengthening workforce pipelines in industries that are critical to Ohio’s economy. That collaboration is creating long-term opportunities for employees and employers alike.”
Since 2019, Ohio has invested in 121 Industry Sector Partnerships, representing 77 unique organizations and totaling $22.7 million in support.
The ISP program is among the state programs strengthening Ohio’s workforce alongside WorkOhio, an initiative announced by Lt. Governor Jim Tressel that aims to connect Ohioans with in-demand jobs in their area through personalized support from teams of regional jobs experts. One-on-one support and additional resources for job seekers are now available through the program website, WorkOhio.gov.
