U.S. 50 was shut down for a time Monday evening near Swisshelm Lane and Roads Lane following a one-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital.

The crash occurred just after 10 p.m. Monday evening. One vehicle left the roadway, causing damage to a telephone pole, before it came to a rest in a nearby field.

According to Marc Bayless, of Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, one adult and one child were transported from the scene. The child was taken to Highland District Hospital, and the adult was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley in Dayton.

U.S. 50 was open to one lane at approximately 10:45 p.m.

It was not immediately released what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
