Couple indicted on charges of manufacturing meth in vicinity of children

A husband and wife charged with first-degree felony manufacturing meth in the vicinity of two juveniles appeared in Highland County Common Pleas Court Wednesday for pretrial hearings.

Donald Collins and Kimberly Collins, of Hillsboro, were each indicted in March on first-degree felony charges of illegal manufacture of drugs in the vicinity of a juvenile; illegal assembly, felonies of the second degree; endangering children, felonies of the third degree; and a forfeiture specification.

It is alleged that on Dec. 29, in their Jackson Township home, they "did knowingly manufacture or engage in a part of the production of methamphetamine in the vicinity of a juvenile," according to court documents.

They appeared via video from the Highland County Justice Center.

Kimberly Collins is being represented by attorney Kathryn Hapner, and Donald Collins is being represented by attorney Lee Koogler.

They are scheduled for a jury trial on May 10.
