County Roads Undergoing Guardrail, Resurfacing Projects

CHILLICOTHE – As the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9’s 2011 construction season gets into full swing, a pair of preservation projects on several county roads in Highland County are already under way.
“Both of these projects are being sponsored by the Highland County Engineer’s Office, and we are pleased to be working with Dean Otworth and his team during another busy construction season,” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson.
Currently, crews from the Lake Erie Construction Company are replacing approximately eight miles of guardrail at various locations on several county roads as weather permits. Included in these routes are County Road 2A-B (Gath Road), C.R 13A-C (Certier and North Fork roads), C.R. 43B (Sicily Road), C.R. 44A-B (Centerfield Road), C.R. 59B (Barker Road), T.R. 103A (Williams Road), T.R. 106 (Oak Leaf Road), T.R. 139 (Duncanson Road) and T.R. 206B (Gregory Road).
In a separate project, the Shelly Company will be resurfacing approximately 13 miles of four roads that include County Road 11A-B (Sharpsville Road), C.R. 27A (North Shore Drive), C.R. 20C-D (Taylorsville Road) and C.R. 33C (Anderson Road). Site preparations are already under way, and crews are tentatively scheduled to begin paving operations on Wednesday, May 11.
Lake Erie was awarded a contract in the amount of $238,120 to replace the guardrail, and the scheduled completion date is June 30. The Shelly Company was awarded a $1.23 million contract for resurfacing, and the scheduled completion date for this project is August 15.
Throughout construction for both projects, traffic will be maintained with the aid of flaggers when crews are at work.
