The Hillsboro City Council Safety Committee plans to recommend to the full council not to impose fees for local fire inspections, as previously announced by the fire department.

Numerous local business owners have spoken out in opposition to both the fees and the inspections, as well as the city's failure to fully explain the possible fines and penalties for noncompliance.

City council will address the issue at its meeting on Monday, Feb. 8 at the new fire station on North East Street.
