The Clay Township Crime Watch held its first meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Approximately 50 people attended the meeting for an informational session presented by Highland County Sheriff Richard Warner.
The group has been in planning stages since October 2013, when a group of about 30 citizens in the Buford area began to discuss ways to respond to recent break-ins in their neighborhoods.
The Clay Township Crime Watch will meet later in March or early in April to establish divisions and outline who will be in charge of different areas of the community.
Those living in Clay Township who would like to get involved are encouraged to attend the next meeting. The date will be announced when it is set.
