Cincinnati-Dayton region prepares emergency response vehicle for Oklahoma deployment

The Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region of the American Red Cross is preparing their Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) for deployment to Oklahoma.
The American Red Cross has already opened 6 shelters and deployed 27 ERVs and several mobile feeding support trailers in the wake of the devastating tornadoes that shattered the state.
“We are prepared to lend our support when the time comes for Cincinnati to send volunteers and supplies,” said Trish Smitson Regional CEO of the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region.
“Our volunteers are routinely deployed for disaster relief support around the country, and it is expected that we will be called upon to aid in this effort as well,” said Smitson.
One ERV can supply mobile distribution of more than 3,000 meals. In addition to mobile feeding they are used for bulk distribution of relief supplies.
Our thoughts and concerns go to everyone in Oklahoma following this horrific tornado. People with family near the tornado are encouraged to connect with loved ones to find out they are safe.
This can be done through the “I’m Safe” feature of the free Red Cross tornado app. In addition, if you have access to a computer, go to www.redcross.org/safeandwell to list yourself as safe. If not, you can text loved ones or call a family member and ask them to register you on the site.
American Red Cross Disaster Relief efforts provide food, shelter and emotional support to those affected by disasters. To make a donation go to redcross.org, 1-800-REDCROSS or texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
