Local optometrist and owner of Buckeye Family Eye Clinic, Inc., Dr. Tausha L. Barton has installed an eco-friendly, state-of-the-art digital lens finishing laboratory.

The highly advanced, fully computerized lens-finishing system from Santinelli International is the first in the industry to fully comply with international Restriction of Hazardous Substances (ROHS) standards. This directive restricts the use of hazardous materials in the global manufacturing of various types of products using electromechanical equipment.

In addition, the system utilizes a water filtration system which, when compared to other methods, drastically reduces water consumption, while collecting particle debris into a filter, allowing for routine recycling.

By installing this top-of-the-line lens-finishing equipment, Buckeye Family Eye Clinic, Inc. will be able to produce the highest quality eyewear faster and “greener” with virtually no lens material by-product introduced into the environment.

As an added benefit, Dr. Barton has selected the highest performance equipment to ensure her patients will receive the best quality eyewear available based on today’s optical standards of excellence, and in many cases, next-day delivery.

As the leader in lens-edging equipment, Santinelli International’s lens-finishing systems produce the most accurate prescription and best-fitting lenses, as well as an exclusive crystal cut polish – a high-luster jewelry-like lens finish which results in more attractive eyewear.

“We specifically made the investment with the service and satisfaction of our valued patients in mind," Dr. Barton said. "The addition of this new system not only allows us to have total control of our high-quality standards, but also eliminates operational and outsourcing costs, which caused us to pay higher lab costs and caused a longer wait for glasses to be completed.

"We will now be able to provide faster, premium eyewear to our patients while passing on the savings. As a proud and local family-owned business, we can be more competitive with big box retailers in fulfilling a commitment to our patients in getting more for less.”

Dr. Barton opened Buckeye Family Eye Clinic, Inc. in 2004. She is board-certified in Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association, Ohio Optometric Association and the Hillsboro Lions Club.
