Bob Patton presents Marshall school, community history program

Highland County sports historian Bob Patton presented an April 7 program on the history of Marshall Township and the recently razed Marshall school at the Highland House Museum.

Patton, who writes the South Central Ohio League sports history column for The Highland County Press, discussed the history of Marshall High School, including the 1928 Ohio Class B Boys Basketball State Championship team, the Marshall Red Flashes, coached by Snag Emery.

After a question-and-answer session, there was an unveiling of the Marshall basketball championship exhibit and an excavated time capsule from Marshall.

As recently reported by The Highland County Press, the Highland County Historical Society's Catie Schafer and Helen Ford worked to restore the luster of the championship trophies from 1928.

The trophies had been in storage at the old school and at the township fire station.

After their restoration, they are now on display on the second floor of the Highland House Museum in Hillsboro.
