Area EMS agencies prepare for summer

On Thursday, April 18, EMTs and Paramedics from area departments attended an educational training class sponsored by the Highland County Firefighters Association (HCFFA) and MedFlight at the Hillsboro Fire Department on the topic of Summer Emergencies.

Danielle Caruthers, flight nurse, of MedFlight, a non-profit air and ground critical care transportation company in Columbus, provided training in seasonal topics which EMTs and paramedics are likely to encounter in the upcoming months including Anaphylactic shock and allergies; Drowning and near drowning, and Heat related emergencies.

These training sessions sponsored by the Highland County Firefighters Association are held to enable local firefighters and EMS personnel to stay proficient in their duties, and at the same time to earn CEU’s continuing education credits) necessary to maintain certifications. This training is provided at no charge through the fundraisers of the HCFFA and cooperation of area agencies such as MedFlight.
