Annual fundraising dinner for PFC Gullett Scholarship May 19
The annual PFC Zachary R. Gullett Memorial Scholarship Trust Spaghetti Dinner will be held this year on Saturday, May 19, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the VFW Post 9094, at 1000 W. Main St. in Hillsboro.
The scholarship, given to a graduating senior at Hillsboro High School in pursuit of higher level of education in law enforcement, is named for PFC Zachary R. Gullett who died on May 1, 2007.
Zachary was a 2004 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he participated in marching band, drama, symphonic choir, and football. Zachary was also a member of the Military Police Regimental Association. In 2005 Zachary attended and graduated from Ohio University (Chillicothe), and graduated with a certificate of completion in Law Enforcement.
Zachary enlisted in the army on Feb. 23, 2006 and reported to FT Leonard Wood, MO for One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as a Military Policeman. Zachary gradated from OSUT on Aug. 8, 2006.
Zachary reported to the 984th MP Co, FT Carson, CO on Aug. 18, 2006.
Zachary was deployed to Iraq on Sept. 16, 2006 and was stationed in Ad Diwaniyah, Iraq. He was very proud to be a military police officer and was planning to pursue a career with the Ohio State Patrol at the conclusion of his 5 years of enlistment with the Army.
Dinner will include spaghetti, salad, roll, dessert and a beverage. Split the pot and raffles are also part of the evening.
