Alleged threats lead to arrest of Hillsboro man

William L. Shaw, 36, of Hillsboro was arrested Tuesday evening after the Hillsboro Police Department received a call that he was threatening family members.

Officers were called to the 300 block of East Main Street. According to the HPS report, officers found that Shaw had threatened two family members.

"During the altercation, two rounds from a .45 caliber revolver were discharged," the HPD reported. "Shaw then barricaded himself in a bedroom, threatening to commit suicide."

When his gun failed to discharge, officers apprehended Shaw, the report said.

Two loaded handguns and a gun safe were seized by police.

There were no reports of injuries.

Shaw was taken to the Highland County Justice Center and will be arraigned today in Hillsboro Municipal Court. He faces charges of aggravated menacing, child endangering and criminal damaging.[[In-content Ad]]
