Adams sworn in as member of board of DD

Leesburg resident Karen Adams was sworn in Tuesday afternoon by Highland County Juvenile and Probate Court Judge Kevin Greer to serve on the Highland County Board of DD. 

Adams, who works at UC Physicians in Cincinnati, said that the board of DD and the work that is done at Hills and Dales is a cause that is close to her heart. 

"Judge Greer approached my family about serving, and I have an interest in the Highland County Board of DD and Hills and Dales because I have a younger sister who I have guardianship of who goes to the adult program," Adams said. 

Adams said that she has seen how important the services are to the children and adults who receive them, and she will be dedicated to seeing those services continued. 

"I am interested in assuring that the organization continues to be a viable part of the community," Adams said. "For those who receive services at the center, they are like an extended family. She has been going there for more than 35 years, and can't imagine going anywhere else.

"It is a great honor to serve on the board and I want to make sure that what they are doing here is around for another 50, 100 years, for the next generation," Adams said.
