6 stations respond to fire at Woodland Trails

Six area fire stations responded to a fire on Woodland Trails in Paint Township. Although no injuries were reported, the structure is believed to be a total loss.

According to Chief Bradley George of the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, once on scene crews were able to contain with fire within half an hour.

Approximately 16 firefighters responded from the district stations in Greenfield and Paint Township, and from Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, Marshall, Brushcreek and the Highland North Joint Fire and Ambulance District.

"We received the call around 10:10 a.m. with the report of a fully involved structure fire at 7150 Woodland Trails," George said. "When the first crew arrived on scene it was about a quarter involved on an unoccupied structure."

Although the fire was knocked down quickly, George said the double-wide trailer was a total loss.

George said that it was his understanding that the trailer is a rental unit, and while no was permanently living structure, although people were in the process of moving in.

Investigators are still looking as to what may have caused the fire.

"There was still electric going to the unit, so we can't rule that out (as the cause of the fire)," George said. "There were no obvious signs of accelerant found. It remains under investigation."

The Highland County Water Department was listening to the fire response on the scanner, George said, and were ready to respond should water supply issues occurr. However, George said they had plenty of water to fight the fire. 

"We responded with tankers, and we got it knocked down so quick, we only had to refill a couple of trucks once," George said. "Water was never an issue."
