Hillsboro woman sentenced to community control for meth trafficking charge

A Hillsboro woman was sentenced to community control this week after pleading guilty to a lower-level meth trafficking charge.

Sallie McKenzie, 41, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in June and charged with aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a fourth-degree felony; and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony. She pleaded guilty to the trafficking charge in August, with the possession charge dismissed.

The charges in this case stemmed from a Highland County Task Force investigation. A bill of particulars alleges that in November 2022, a confidential informant went to purchase drugs from a local “compound.” The CI “asked for an eight-ball,” but McKenzie said they “did not have that much” and instead sold $20 worth of meth to the individual.

On Sept. 28, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced McKenzie to three years of community control and ordered her to successfully complete a substance abuse treatment program. She was also ordered to pay $20 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.
