Hillsboro middle schoolers run at state meet

Members of the Hillsboro seventh and eighth grade cross-country teams concluded their season Sunday, Oct. 22 at the OHSAA 7th and 8th Grade Cross-Country Invitational at Fortress Obetz.
The Indians boys team finished fifth overall in the two-mile event, with eighth grader Alexander Read leading the way with a sixth-place finish at state. Read finished the event with a time of 11:37.9.
Teammate Mason Rinal was next, with the seventh grader tallying a 25th-place finish with a time of 12:24.8. Trenton Gulley, an eighth grader, was 46th with a time of 13:20.6, followed closely by seventh grader Luke Letts in 52nd (13:31.1).
Seventh grader Tyler Bender (14:10.6) was 75th, and seventh grader Robert Hanson rounded out the HMS boys scoring with a time of 16:22.8.
For the entire event, the HMS boys team was ranked 40th out of 73 teams.
In the girls two-mile race, seventh grader Parker Wilkin was 69th place with a time of 15:23.4. Teammates and fellow seventh graders Emarey Schurman followed in 81st place (15:56.7), along with Abriann Anderson (16:24.6) coming in 93rd.
