Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 5-11, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 338 911 calls, answered 148 requests for service, dispatched 93 fire and EMS runs, took 39 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, joined by victims’ advocates and members of the Ohio House and Ohio Senate, has announced a legislative effort to establish an address confidentiality program in Ohio to provide stronger protections for the victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual battery and other violent crimes.

State Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township) introduced a resolution urging Congress to enact the Toxic Exposure Research Act of 2015 to assist families and individuals affected by exposure to Agent Orange. 

One month ahead of its scheduled completion, a dual bridge replacement and realignment project on County Road 11 (Bridges Road) in Highland County has been wrapped up, and the route is now open to traffic.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted presented a medallion honoring Former Ohio Congressman Delbert “Del” Latta for his courageous support of the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965.
