Patrol OVI checkpoint in Butler County to be held June 21

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday that an OVI checkpoint will be held Friday, June 21 in Butler County.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

So far this year, there have been 4,319 OVI-related crashes in which 133 people were killed and 1,744 people injured in Ohio.

“State Troopers have made 6,731 OVI arrests this year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers,” Lieutenant Matthew Keener, Commander of the Hamilton Post said. “OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”

The location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday, June 21.
