Hillsboro man sentenced to community control in meth trafficking case

A Hillsboro man indicted on 14 counts last September was sentenced to community control Wednesday.

Christopher Pollard, 31, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in September 2023 on two counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree and a fourth-degree felony; two counts of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree and a fifth-degree felony; five counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, all fifth-degree felonies; and five counts of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, all fifth-degree felonies.

According to court records, Pollard pleaded guilty to the two aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine counts on Dec. 18, with the dozen other charges dismissed.

For those two counts, a bill of particulars alleged that on or about Sept. 22, 2022, a confidential informant (CI) purchased 3.13 grams of meth from Pollard in the parking lot of a Hillsboro business. On or about Sept. 26, 2022, it is alleged that a CI purchased another 2.86 grams of meth from Pollard at the same business parking lot.

During a sentencing hearing Jan. 3, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Pollard to three years of community control. In addition, Pollard was ordered to successfully complete a substance use disorder treatment program and recommended after care. Pollard will also have to pay $525 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.
