Two long standing hospital twigs (women’s auxiliary) made significant donations to the Foundation in 2009. Only one twig remains out of 15. The Buckeye Twig, the oldest twig, reluctantly disbanded and donated the remainder of their funds toward the upgrade of the maternity security system which is being installed. Pam Limes, foundation administrative secretary, received $3,442 from B.J. Gee, Donna Sumpter, Winona Swayne, and Rose Swisshelm. Other longstanding members are Polly Williams, Jo Ann DeHass (retired 30-year HDH employee), Kausko Morris, Mary Bean, Margaret McMonigle, Jeanie Satterfield, Irene Garman, Juanita Kelly, Katherine Penquite, and Ann Rehark. These members have donated thousands of volunteer hours to HDH and several continue to actively volunteer their services.
The Magnolia Twig, the only active twig, donated $500 to the 2010 Health Fair scheduled for April 17 and continues to raise money for the hospital. If you have not experienced their fish dinners, you have missed a delicious meal. Arlene Cole, Mary Cole, Carolyn Goins, Geneva Burns, and Elsie Young recently presented the check to foundation.
The Board is honored that the Buckeye and Magnolia Twigs chose to donate to the Foundation and Highland District Hospital. Thank you to them and all of the twig members who have supported the hospital throughout the years.[[In-content Ad]]
