McClain girls, Hillsboro boys win 2020 Adam Sharp Invitational

The McClain Lady Tigers shot a team score of 198 to win the 2020 Adam Sharp Invitational, while on the boys side it was the Hillsboro Indians winning with a score of 178.

In the girls event, the host Lady Tigers won at the Buckeye Hills Country Club with the following individual scores: Bri Weller (40), Shayna Beatty (46), Emma Stegbauer (55), Alyssa Carroll (57) and Cate Willis (61).

Weller was the meet medalist for the girls event on Thursday.

In second place was North Adams (203), followed by Chillicothe (203), Jackson (221) and West Union (234).

In the boys event, the Indians won with their 178 score at Buckeye Hills and were led by meet medalist Gabe Mycroft with a score of 38. Other Hillsboro scores were: Gavin Puckett (44), Bentley Watson (47), Josh Crawford (49) and Lawton Parry (50).

McClain finished in third place overall with the following scores: Seth Wise (42), Robbie Wise (45), Wes Potts (49), David Edwards (51) and Carson Spangler (51).

Final team results for the boys included: Hillsboro (178), Circleville (181), McClain (187), Jackson (188), Washington (195), Logan Elm (201), Whiteoak (207), Fairfield (219) and Chillicothe (222).

On Wednesday (Aug. 5), the McClain Tigers varsity boys golf team began the 2020 season with victories over Wellston and the Fairfield Lions at Buckeye Hills Country Club.

McClain shot 192 as a team while the Lions finished at 208. Wellston ended the day with a score of 246.

Wesley Potts was match medalist carding a 46 for the Tigers. Other McClain scores included: David Edwards (48), Seth Wise (48) and Carson Spangler (50). In the JV match, the McClain Tigers defeated Fairfield by a score of 250-266.
