Lions dominate host Manchester for SHAC win

The Fairfield Lions had a lot to celebrate on Friday, Dec. 20 as they defeated the Manchester Greyhounds, 83-44 for the Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory.
The Lions (1-2, 3-3) dominated early on with a 26-9 first frame where James Bentley scored eight points in the frame. Also in the first, Wyatt Willey and Bryson Simmons each scored four points, while Tucker Watson and Tytis Cannon each added two points to the FHS side of the scoreboard.

Simmons led the Lions with 22 points, while Willey totaled 18 points and Bentley scored 14 points to give the Lions three players in double-figure scoring.
In the second frame, the two teams each scored 16 points, where the Lions led at halftime by a 42-25 score.
FHS in the second quarter had 10 points from Willey (including two 3-pointers), while Simmons added six points.
The Lions scored 22 points in the third, while the Greyhounds had 13 points, building a 64-38 advantage. FHS in the third had eight points from Simmons, six points by Bentley and two points each by Tucker Watson, Reese Teeters, Willey and Connor Priest.
Fairfield scored 19 points in the fourth where Watson scored four points, Simmons scored four points, Caleb Payne had three points and with two points each were Jon Bentley, Willey, Koben Zink and Zane Taylor.
For the game, the Lions totaled 33 two-point field goals, two 3-pointers and were 11-of-15 from the free-throw line. Manchester totaled 14 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and they were 4-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Manchester was led by Isaiah Scott with 17 points and Luke Hayslip with 14 points.
More final overall scoring for the Lions included Watson and Priest each finished with eight points. Payne scored three points, and with two points each were Teeters, Cannon, Jon Bentley, Zink and Taylor.
Next for the Lions is a game on Monday, Jan. 30 vs. Wellston in a non-conference game.
