The following are Highland County basketball recaps for Dec. 12-14.

Whiteoak falls to Minford by 2 points
In a non-conference game on Saturday (Dec. 12), the Whiteoak Wildcats fell to the host Minford Falcons by a 48-46 score.
The Wildcats scored 10 points and 11 points in the first two quarters respectively, while the Falcons scored 23 points in the first half to lead WHS, 23-21.
In the second half, Minford had a 13-point third frame and a 12-point fourth quarter, while the Wildcats scored 13 points in the third quarter and 12 points in the fourth quarter.
Whiteoak was led in scoring by Brad Ashbaugh with 16 points (two 3-pointers), and he was followed by Nick Bailey with 11 points (one 3-pointer).
The remainder of the Whiteoak scoring included six points each by Landon Barnett and Hogan Walker, four points from Carson Emery and three points (a 3-pointer) by Luken Roades.
WHS finished 2-of-2 from the free-throw line for the game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Hillsboro falls at Miami Trace
The Hillsboro Lady Indians dropped a Frontier Athletic Conference game on Saturday, losing to the host Miami Trace Lady Panthers by a 61-31 score.
The loss drops the Lady Indians to 1-5 overall, and they are 1-1 in FAC play.
In the game, Hillsboro trailed by a 12-2 score at the end of the first frame, then after being outscored 12-5 in the second quarter, it was HHS trailing on the road at 25-7. In the final two frames, HHS scored 13 points in the third and 11 points in the final quarter. MTHS added 17 points in the third quarter and in the fourth frame scored another 19 points.
HHS was led in scoring by Gracie Dean with 14 points, followed by Brynn Bledsoe with six points, Mya Bell with five points, Eden Edenfield with four points, Susanna Barney with one point and Jaden Moberly with one point.

Lions drop SHAC contest at Eastern
The Fairfield Lions were unable to return to Highland County with a conference win on Saturday night, as they dropped a Southern Hills Athletic Conference contest to the host Eastern Warriors by a 48-29 score.
In the first half, the Warriors scored nine points in the first quarter and followed that with an eight-point second frame. As for the Lions, they had a three-point first quarter and 10 points in the second quarter, leaving the score 17-13 in favor of the home team Warriors at halftime.
The second half saw Eastern take over with a 24-point third quarter and seven points in the fourth quarter.
Fairfield scored four points in the third and then just 10 more in the fourth and final frame, leading to the 19-point loss.
FHS was led in scoring by Jon Bentley with 11 points, followed by Connor Priest with nine points. Scoring three points each were Koben Zink, Reese Teeters and Caleb Payne.
Luke Garrett led the Warriors with 17 points, and Ryan Boone totaled 10 points.

Monday, Dec. 14
GIRLS BASKETBALL
LC Lady Mustangs take down Manchester
The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs earned a 10-point win on Monday night by defeating the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 57-47 score for the Southern Hills Athletic Conference win.
LCHS trailed by a 14-8 score at the end of the first quarter but rallied in the second by outscoring their conference foe at 14-6, leaving the Lady Mustangs ahead at the half by a 22-20 score.
Then came the third frame where the Lady Mustangs really got going as they put up 23 points in the frame, while their defense held Manchester to single-digit scoring at nine points, increasing their lead to 45-29. In the fourth, it was Manchester who won the quarter at 18-12, but LCHS held on to gain the win by 10 points.
The Lady Mustangs had three players reach double-figure scoring with Sierra Benney and Bry Price each scoring 11 points, while Jade Massey tallied 10 points in the win. Price finished with a double-double as she added 15 rebounds in the victory, including 11 offensive boards. Macy Etienne totaled eight rebounds for LCHS, while Ella Barry had seven boards and Massey finished with six rebounds.
Finishing with five rebounds each were Addison West and Serene Walker, and as a team LCHS totaled 49 rebounds.
Other final LCHS scoring included West with six points, Etienne with nine points, Walker with five points, Barry with four points and Hanna Purcell with one point.
Etienne led LCHS with nine assists and five steals.
The win moves Lynchburg-Clay to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the SHAC.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Fairfield falls to SHAC counterpart Eastern
The Fairfield Lady Lions were handed their first conference loss of the 2020-21 season on Monday night, with FHS falling to the host Eastern Lady Warriors by a 70-39 score on Monday evening at EHS.
Fairfield was led in the scoring column by Emma Fouch with 17 points (two 3-pointers) and three rebounds. Also for the Lady Lions, it was Ella Newkirk with seven points and Peyton Magee with six points. Newkirk made one 3-pointer, while also grabbing three rebounds, one assist and two steals.
Magee totaled six rebounds, one assist and three steals. Madison Bronner finished the game with four points, and teammate Shaleigh Duncan also tallied four points. Rounding out the scoring was Braylynn Haines with one point.
Bronner led FHS with eight rebounds and in steals with six. Haines finished with six rebounds, and Duncan totaled three rebounds.
For the game, FHS had 30 rebounds and 13 steals.
The loss moves Fairfield to 4-1 overall this season and to 3-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.
