Grace Shope named to All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference team

Junior Grace Shope was among a list of five Transylvania University women’s basketball players who garnered 2021 conference postseason recognition.
Shope (Leesburg, Ohio/Fairfield HS) was named an All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention.
Shope corralled a well-deserved All-HCAC Honorable Mention with her all-around contributions to team play. The junior led the team in rebounds with 5.3 boards per game, steals with 50 total and 2.5 thefts per game and was fourth on the Pioneers in scoring at 8 points per game.
The junior also averaged 1.5 assists per contest as one of the Pioneers' best two-way players. Shope finished the season ranked third in the HCAC in steals.
Under seventh-year head coach Juli Fulks, the Pioneers compiled a 14-6 overall record, a 14-5 record against Division III competition, a 9-3 record against the HCAC field and culminated their season with their third consecutive HCAC Tournament championship.
During the championship game Wednesday, Shope finished with 10 points, four rebounds and two steals en route to the team’s 69-65 ictory over the Hanover College Panthers.
