Fairfield Lady Lions 7th grade team improves to 7-0 overall

The Fairfield Lady Lions seventh grade team improved to 7-0 overall this season with recent wins over Fayetteville, Georgetown and Whiteoak.
On Dec. 21, the Lady Lions defeated Fayetteville, 46-29 for their fifth win of the season. In that game, Fairfield trailed by a 9-8 score at the end of the first quarter but came back strong with a 12-6 second frame for a halftime lead of 20-15.
The second half included a 19-4 third frame by Fairfield, followed by Fayetteville winning the fourth frame at 10-4, but Fairfield did more than enough to earn the road victory.

Mya Hamilton led Fairfield with 23 points, while Hannah Hamilton finished with seven points. Also for Fairfield, Kassi Miller totaled six points, Jobey Hattan scored four points and Mackenzie Anderson, Aylah Humphreys and Claire Newkirk each scored two points in the win.
The next game for the girls seventh grade team was on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Georgetown, where the Lady Lions won by a 46-30 score.
Fairfield dominated the first half by having a 15-6 first frame, followed by an 18-2 second quarter for a halftime score of 33-8. In the third frame, it was more of the same for the Lady Lions as they outscored Georgetown, 13-7 in the third, but with the game in hand, Georgetown won the fourth frame at 15-2, sending Fairfield to a 16-point win.
Mya Hamilton led the way for the seventh grade team with 23 points, while Miller was next in the scoring column with nine points. From there, Hattan scored six points, and teammate Hannah Hamilton finished with three points.
Rounding out the Lady Lions’ scoring were Humphreys and Newkirk with two points each and Anderson with one point.
The seventh win of the season for Fairfield occurred on Saturday, Jan. 4, where they defeated Highland County rival Whiteoak, 27-15.
The Lady Lions led 7-2 at the end of the first quarter, and in the second Fairfield outscored Whiteoak, 4-2 for a halftime advantage of 11-4.
In the third, the Lady Lions scored 12 points, while Whiteoak scored five points. In the fourth and final frame, Whiteoak won the eight-minute quarter of basketball at 6-4.
