Campbell signs letter of intent for cross-country, track

Gavin Campbell, a senior at Fairfield Local, recently committed to running track and cross-country at Trine University. 

During his career at Fairfield, Campbell was a member of the Lions’ state-qualifying cross-country teams as a junior, when the team placed sixth at the state meet, and as a senior, where the team placed ninth at state. He was named Academic All-Ohio in cross-country his senior year.

Also during his senior season, Campbell placed second as an individual in the 800-meter event at the Indoor Track and Field Southeast District Championship and competed at the State Indoor Track and Field Championships as a member of the 4x800 relay team.

Other accomplishments include being a member of the Div. III Southeast District South Division Championship-winning 4x800 team; finishing eighth in the 400m dash at districts; and competing at regionals as a member of the 4x400 and 4x800 teams as a junior. Campbell earned All-Southern Hills Athletic Conference and All-Southeast District honors in cross-country during his junior and senior seasons.

Located in Angola, Ind., Trine University is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and plays within NCAA Division III.
