Hillsboro Indians defeat CNE Rockets in non-conference battle
Back on the road, the Hillsboro Indians took care of business once again on Tuesday night by defeating the Clermont Northeastern Rockets, 70-37.
In the non-conference victory the Indians led CNE by a 16-10 score, and following a second frame at 22-9, it was Hillsboro holding a halftime advantage of 38-19. In the third frame the Rockets scored nine points and that was followed with a fourth quarter of 11 points.
Hillsboro in the second half scored 16 points in the third quarter and 16 more points in the fourth and final frame.
The Indians were led in the scoring column by Ryan Scott with 21 points as he knocked down one two-point basket, six 3-pointers, and he was 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.
Next for the Indians was Jakwon Clark with 16 points with five two-point baskets, and two 3-pointers in the win.
Hillsboro also had five points from Quintin Captain, four points by Hunter Price, five points by Brad Miller, six points from Lawton Parry, two points by Coltin Hunter, five points by Nick Lewis, three points from Jack Rhodes, two points from Bryce Parsons and one point from Ethan Parry.
For the game, the Indians totaled 13 two-point baskets, 12 3-pointers and they were 8-of-11 in their free-throw shooting.
CNE finished 7-of-13 from the free-throw line, as they collected six two-point baskets and six 3-pointers.

Fairfield Lady Lions earn big win over Washington
The Fairfield Lady Lions earned a road win on Monday night as they defeated the host Washington Lady Blue Lions by 11 points at 55-44 in Fayette County.
Fairfield was led in scoring by Emma Fouch with 19 points as she made one 3-pointer, four two-point buckets and she was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Also in double-figure scoring was Braylynn Haines with 12 points (three two-point baskets, 6-of-7 from the free-throw line).
Other scoring for the Lady Lions of Fairfield included eight points from Ella Newkirk (two 3-pointers), five points each by Peyton Magee and Madison Bronner, four points from Faith Donley and two points by Emma Vance.
From the free-throw line, as a team Fairfield finished 18-of-26, while FHS also had 27 team rebounds (22 defensive). Leading Fairfield in rebounds was Bronner with 10, including two offensive rebounds. Magee was next with seven rebounds (two offensive). Magee also led with seven assists, and the steals leaders were Newkirk and Fouch with three each.
The win by Fairfield moves them to 8-2 overall this season.

LC Mustangs defeat Huntington
In a game played Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the Huntington Huntsmen, 53-50 in a game played at LCHS in non-conference action.
In the win by LCHS, seven players scored points for the Mustangs, with Ian Waits leading the way with 15 points. He collected three two-point baskets, a 3-pointer and he was 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.
Also for the Mustangs, Noah Miller scored nine points with four two-point baskets and a free throw. Also scoring nine points in the win was Brady Chisman, as he made three two-point buckets and three free throws.
Kyle Bennington finished with eight points, and rounding out the LCHS scoring were Bryce Binkley with five points, Logan Shope with four points and Chase Smaltz with three points,
As a team, the Mustangs totaled 15 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and they were 17-of-25 from the free-throw line.

Fairfield wins battle of Lions over Washington
The Fairfield Lions boys basketball team earned a non-conference win on Tuesday night by defeating the Washington Blue Lions 53-40 in WCH.
Fairfield was led in the scoring column by Tytis Cannon and Reese Teeters with nine points each. Also scoring points for FHS were Brayden Zimmerman with eight points, Koben Zink with eight points, Jon Bentley with four points, and with six points each were Tucker Watson and Connor Priest.
The Lions were 8-of-13 from the free-throw line in the win.
