4 from Highland County earn 2019-20 All-Ohio basketball honors

Four Highland County basketball players have earned All-Ohio honors in boys and girls basketball, as voted on by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association, for their play during the 2019-20 season.
In girls basketball for Division II, McClain junior Kyla Burchett was selected as honorable mention All-Ohio, and in Division III Lynchburg-Clay senior Zoe Fittro and Fairfield sophomore Emma Fouch were both selected as honorable mention All-Ohio.
For the boys team, Fairfield senior Bryson Simmons was selected as special mention in Division III.

As a 5-9 guard, Fittro scored 333 points this season, while averaging 14.5 points per game. The senior also totaled 136 rebounds (5.9 rpg.), 13 blocks, 46 steals (2.0 spg.), 63 assists (2.3 apg.) and shot 66 percent from the free-throw line (51-77) in 23 games played this season.
In four years at LCHS, Fittro played in 98 games for the Lady Mustangs, where she scored 1,089 points, averaging 11.1 points per game. Also in her four-year career, Fittro totaled 1.7 apg., 3.5 rpg. and 2.1 spg.
Fittro scored 152 points in her freshman season, followed by 248 points her sophomore season, 356 points her junior year, and the aforementioned 333 points her senior season. Also during her four-year career, Fittro collected 339 rebounds (164 offensive), 339 rebounds, 166 assists, 201 steals and 32 blocks. Last year as a junior, Fittro was also named All-Ohio honorable mention.
Also in Division III, Fouch of Fairfield — a 5-7 sophomore guard — played in 23 games, where she was 50-57 from the free-throw line this season (87.7 percent) and made 49 3-pointers (34.5 percent).
The sophomore also averaged 14.1 ppg. (325 points), 4.7 rpg., 2.3 apg. and 1.2 spg. and shot 41.2 percent from the field (113-274). Fouch also added 107 rebounds (27 offensive), 54 assists and had 28 steals.
In Division II for Burchett, the McClain junior scored 243 points in 22 games played. The 5-2 guard also averaged 11 ppg., along with 2.5 rpg. and 1.5 apg. Last season, Burchett was also named honorable mention All-Ohio.
With the boys Division III honorable mention selection, Simmons averaged 19.72 ppg. in 25 total games played (totaling 493 points for the entire season). During the three games the Lions played in the postseason, he averaged 21 ppg., as the Lions were district runners-up.
As a 6-2 guard Simmons averaged 3.4 rpg., had a 51.9 field goal percentage, shot 38 percent from beyond the arc and had a 68-percent free-throw percentage in 23 games (excluding the two district games played).
For his career with the Lions (three varsity seasons), Simmons totaled 901 points, scoring 134 points as a sophomore, 274 points as a junior, and the aforementioned 493 points as a senior.
Simmons’ best game of the season came when he scored 31 points in the sectional finals against the South Gallia Rebels. In that game, during the first two quarters, Simmons scored 21 points. Simmons also had a 31-point game this past season against Wellston.
