Charlotte Ann Campbell

Charlotte Ann Campbell, 91, of Lakeland, Fla. and formerly of Leesburg, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 3 at Arbor Oaks in Lakeland, where she had resided for the past few years.

She was born May 20, 1932 in Springfield to Gordon and Violet (Segal) Griffith. Shortly after Charlotte’s birth, the family moved to Gordon’s family home on High Street in Leesburg.

Charlotte was a graduate of Fairfield High School and Wilmington College. She began her teaching career in the Washington Court House City Schools, taught fifth grade and kindergarten at Fairfield Local and was a substitute in the Okeechobee County, Fla. school system.

On March 30, 1963, she married Don Campbell, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary before his passing on June 7, 2013. In retirement, Don and Charlotte spent their winters in Okeechobee.

Charlotte was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star of Ohio #57 Leesburg Chapter and the Leesburg Camping Club.

She will be remembered as an incredible mother with unwavering love for and commitment to her family.

She is survived by three sons, Charles “Chuck” Campbell (Jackie Shields) of Durham, N.C., David (Katie) Campbell of Valrico, Fla. and Kenneth (Brenda) Campbell of Alexandria, Ky.; three grandchildren, Jordan (Whitney) Campbell of Winchester, Ky., Scott (Tina) Campbell of Wilmington and Kelly Barkman of Cincinnati; six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Callie and Charlotte Campbell and Jenna, Ella and Maya Barkman; nephew, Jim Griffith (Angie Wiget) of Bradenton, Fla., and niece, Beth (David) Magee of Wilmington; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews on the Campbell side of the family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Gordon “Bud” and Frances Griffith.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at the Hightop Cemetery in Samantha, Ohio. Jeff Davis will officiate.

Charlotte was one of the finest humans to walk this earth. She always stepped up to do anything that was needed. She was Jordan's first babysitter, and he would do anything to stay with his Grandma Charlotte. ❤️. She hopped into action to help us get all of the food ready for his wedding and stayed late into that night to dance with us. ?❤️ She was a very special lady who I greatly admired. Rest easy Grandma Charlotte. ?❤️
