Hunters ages 17 and younger checked 10,449 white-tailed deer during Ohio’s youth gun hunting season on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16-17, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Each fall, youth hunters enjoy a weekend of deer hunting with a firearm before the statewide gun season begins.

Archery hunters in Ohio harvested 5,390 white-tailed deer on Saturday, Nov. 9, the highest single-day total this season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

Ohio archery hunters have checked 48,321 deer through Sunday, Nov. 3, which includes the first six weekends of bowhunting, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The 2024-25 statewide archery season began on Saturday, Sept. 28 and continues through Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025.

Ohio’s hunters checked 213,928 white-tailed deer during the 2023-24 deer hunting season that concluded Sunday, Feb. 4, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The final total represents all deer taken during archery, gun, muzzleloader and youth seasons since Sept. 9, 2023.

Hunters checked 12,712 white-tailed deer during Ohio’s four-day muzzleloader season that concluded on Tuesday, Jan. 9, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. This total accounts for all deer taken with muzzleloader and archery equipment between Jan. 6-9.

Ohio’s weeklong white-tailed deer gun hunting season concluded on Sunday, Dec. 3, with hunters taking 70,118 deer, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

The Ohio Wildlife Council approved proposed hunting and trapping season dates for 2023-24, including deer bag limit changes in seven counties, during its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, April 12, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
