The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has designated the week of Jan. 12-18 as Winter Sports Officials Appreciation Week.

The Division VI and VII football All-Ohio teams were announced Monday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA, which vote on the all-district teams from regular-season accomplishments.

Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller junior quarterback Matt Ponatoski has been named Ohio Mr. Football by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. He is the 38th winner of the prestigious award and the second in a row for Archbishop Moeller. Running back Jordan Marshall won the award last year.

Following the state semifinals Friday night, the pairings are now set for the 53rd Annual Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championships. Seven title games will be played Dec. 5-7 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, beginning with the Division II game on Thursday night.

Following the football regional championships last Friday night, the Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the pairings and sites for this week’s state semifinal games. In late July, 707 schools began the football season, and now 28 are still playing in the Final Four during Thanksgiving week.

After a 10-year hiatus, postseason high school basketball will return to the Taft Coliseum at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds next Feb. and March. The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the football regional semifinal playoff pairings and neutral sites for the third round of the playoffs this Friday, Nov. 15.

The 50th Annual Ohio High School Athletic Association girls volleyball state tournament begins Nov. 7 at four sites in the Dayton area. Seven state champions will be crowned at the Nutter Center at Wright State University, with additional sites hosting state semifinals, including Vandalia Butler High School, Clayton Northmont High School and Kettering Fairmont High School.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association girls and boys soccer state tournaments are set for this week, with the girls state semifinals on Tuesday night and the boys state semifinals on Wednesday night. The winners will advance to the state championship matches this weekend at Historic Crew Stadium.

The regional quarterfinals of the Ohio High School Athletic Association football playoffs will take place on Friday, Nov. 8, and the OHSAA announced the pairings on Sunday afternoon. Unless otherwise noted, all playoff games will kick off Friday at 7 p.m.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the pairings for this week’s field hockey state tournament and the qualifiers for Saturday’s cross country state championships. Field hockey is hosted by Thomas Worthington High School, while cross country is hosted by Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park in Southeast Columbus.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the official weekly football computer ratings Tuesday. The computer ratings are released every week beginning in the fifth week of the season, leading up to the final report on Sunday, Oct. 27, when 448 schools – the top 16 in each region – will qualify for the playoffs.
