SSCC awards Dylan Phillip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship to Drew Dotson and Audree Howell
The Southern State Community College Foundation has announced Drew Dotson and Audree Howell as the recipients of the Dylan Phillip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year.
A 2023 graduate of Eastern Brown High School, Dotson was also enrolled as a College Credit Plus student and simultaneously earned his associate of science degree at Southern State. He plans to continue his education at Southern State in the computer science program and pursue a career in cybersecurity.
Audree Howell, daughter of an inaugural supporter and in Wilson and Paeltz’s close circle of friends, will be attending Ohio University. She is a graduate of Mount Notre Dame High School and will be pursuing political science in the next few years.
The Dylan Phillip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship fund was established in 2006 in memory of Dylan Phillip Wilson, a 1993 graduate of Georgetown High School, and was modified in 2014 to include Nathan Paeltz, Dylan’s longtime childhood friend.
This fund serves to honor both of these young men and is designed to serve graduates from Eastern Brown High School, Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington High School and Georgetown High School with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
The scholarship criteria and selection are overseen by Wilson and Paeltz’s close personal friend, Jon Linkous, a longtime partner and Chair of the Southern State Community College Foundation.
“It always brings great pleasure to the family and friends of both Dylan Wilson and Nathan Paeltz to continue to see individuals receiving scholarships from the fund that was created on their behalf to help keep both of their memories burning bright,” said Linkous.
