Wilmington board votes to pursue re-entry into SCOL

Wilmington may seek re-entry into SCOL
  As reported here Saturday, July 24, the Wilmington City Schools Board of Education considered a resolution to seek re-entry into the South Central Ohio League at its board meeting Monday, July 26. 
On Monday, the board voted to pursue re-entry into the SCOL.
Wilmington was a charter member of the SCOL in 1923. 
Wilmington currently is a member of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference. The conference, which includes a number of suburban Cincinnati schools, is under going some changes and reclassifications. Amelia, a former Clermont County member, recently left the FAVC for the Southern Buckeye Conference.  
Wilmington school board member Bill Liermann told The Highland County Press that he believed Wilmington would be a very good fit to rejoin the SCOL. He also cited a number of travel issues, particularly in the winter months, that Wilmington faces in the FAVC.
The SCOL members schools include: Hillsboro, McClain, Clinton Massie, Washington C.H., Miami Trace, London and Madison-Plains. Those schools have agreed to maintain league affiliation through June 30, 2015. 
Last year, the SCOL Joint Board of Control and Athletic Directors discussed expanding the league.
Wilmington was one of the schools under consideration.
