Tigers score often in 16-goal win over MP

GREENFIELD - The third game in as many days was what the McClain Tigers needed to get into the win column.
MHS, the defending South Central Ohio League champions, lost their first two games of the year (both non-league), but battled back in their first SCOL game of the year, in a big fashion, scoring 16 times against the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles for a 16-0 win Thursday at McClain Field.
The scoring was early and often in both 40-minute segments, according to MHS coach Shawn Jackson, as he said the Tigers led 10-0 after the first half.
Sam Henry led all scorers with a hat-trick of three goals in the rout of the Golden Eagles.
Scoring two goals each were Daniel White, Geoffrey Mitchell, Shane Hall and Ben Chamblin.
Also scoring one goal each were: Chris Wiseman, Luis Rivas, Jimmy Free, Jared White and Nick Rivas.
"We came out and scored two off the bat, and after that, we scored often," Jackson said. "It happened the same way in the second half."
Jackson said this is what his team needed after the non-league losses to Fairfield and Lynchburg-Clay on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"We needed this to get back on track. It looks like we are starting to turn things around, and we need to keep continuing to play like we did (Thursday).
"All the guys go in and we have a break until we play Hillsboro on Thursday (Sept. 2)."
Jackson continued to speak about the way his team rebounded.
"Offensively, we were hitting on all cylinders, and the middle was executing," he said. "Defensively, we were talking to each other, and on the offensive side, we set up plays and perfected them. This was a good night for us. We just have to keep taking care of business."
MHS (1-0, 1-2) will play again on Thursday, Sept. 2 as they host their Highland County rival Hillsboro.
